Bagel preparation suggestion
I purchased a few different bagels and prepared them in various ways. I find microwaving the bagels are soft but rubbery. I tried different cooking times and it still was not ideal even after I toasted the bagels out of the microwave. When I used the oven/toaster oven, the texture was much firmer and more of the texture of a typical bagel. I refrigerated bagels instead of cooking from frozen and there was no difference in texture when in the oven/toaster oven. The cooking time was less if thawed. I LOVE that your products do not fall apart when cooked like most GF foods. The chocolate chip bagels taste great with enough chips to really taste the chocolate. The onion bagels could use a little more onion flavor (but maybe because I am a huge fan of the onion taste). I eat them with a bean burger! I will write back when I try the pumpkin bagels.:) A huge thank you for making food that I can eat and enjoy!!! I am deeply appreciative.
The Greater Knead
Hi Linda,
We appreciate you writing in. We are definitely going to look into the preparation times that are on our bags. We will make sure they are accurate and more consistent. Did you try to microwave, then toast the bagels? The microwave is to give our rice flours a blast of heat to rehydrate them. This will soften the bagel all the way around (please microwave until soft all the way around, 60-90 seconds should do it), then you can toast the bagel in your toaster, or toaster oven. If you have an air fryer, this is another way to prepare the bagels (so many choices!). A customer told us about this one, preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees, separate the 2 halves of the bagel and place in the air fryer. Cook for 5-7 minutes at 375. The bagel will come out nice and toasty with a great crisp to the outside and a nice warm chewy center.
Thank you for the positive feedback on the chocolate chip and onion bagels (we hear you though, more onion! lol). Please keep telling us on how we can improve, we want your feedback!
And we appreciate you too!
